BIOMDLORE was first held at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (Lithuania) in 1999. The first editions of the series were organized solely by the academic staff of the Department of Biomechanical Engineering as one-day scientific seminars. In 2006, scientists from Białystok University of Technology (Poland) joined the organizers, and BIOMDLORE transformed into the international conference which was held for the first time in Białystok. Since then, BIOMDLORE is held either in Lithuania or in Poland.

Starting with the 2016 edition, it was decided to hold a conference every two years. BIOMDLORE 2016 was held in Druskininkai (Lithuania) and BIOMDLORE 2018 was organized in Białystok. The next conference was planned to be held in 2020, however, due to COVID-19 pandemic, it was postponed to 2021.

The 2021 conference was successfully held in Vilnius. It was organized in a hybrid way, with more than 40 participants compactly, and 11 remotely. The conference was attended by a total of 8 countries (USA, Canada, Spain, Italy, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania). For the first time, the Young Scientist Award was organized. The next conference will take place in 2023 in Poland.
